Hizen Biidoro is a glass craft that originated in Saga City (formerly called Hizen) in the early 1900s. Artisans use traditional techniques that have been passed down since the Edo period, such as chubuki (winding glass on a rod and then blowing to create a form), while also integrating new techniques to create a variety of glassware products. Hizen Biidoro has been designated an Important Intangible Cultural Property of Saga City.
