Kagami Kurisutaru crystalware is characterized by very thin glass that is finely “engraved” with sophisticated designs using emery sand. This crystalware is known for its transparency and brilliance, as well as its colors. Unlike Edo Kiriko glassmakers, most of whom typically use primary colors, Kagami Crystal uses different pigments to create glassware with amber, deep purple, and emerald green coloration. Kagami Crystal is also distinctive in its use of modern designs rather than the more traditional patterns found in Edo Kiriko.
