Located in the southern part of Kokubunji-cho, Takamatsu City (Kagawa Prefecture),, Mount Washinoyama has been a stone production area since ancient times due to its abundant supply of high-quality hornblende andesite. Stone processing developed as an industry in the Meiji period, and there are still stone manufacturers in the area today. The soft, easily processed stone is used to make a variety of stone products, including lanterns, sculptures, and gravestones, collectively known as Washinoyama Sekkouhin.
