Odawara Shikki

Odawara lacquerware has been passed down since the Muromachi period.
Based on excellent potter's wheel techniques, its specialized techniques include repeated application of raw lacquer and the main technique of kijiro-nuri, which is combined with colored lacquer to create handmade lacquerware that highlights the beautiful grain of the natural materials. As Odawara lacquerware is mainly made from zelkova, one of its defining characteristics is that it is sturdy and has little distortion. It also has excellent moisture resistance and durability.
