秋田塗
Akita Nuri
秋田市出身の加藤民太郎によって作出された漆器。 伝統漆器の技法を基調としながら、現代的なデザイン性を取り入れ、色鮮やかな製品が生み出されています。 昭和初期に加納民太郎氏が秋田塗として製作を行っていましたが、戦後まもなく製作されなくなっていました。現在は、「秋田でつくられている漆器」として秋田塗の製作が行なわれています。漆の艶と彩りを活かした、カラフルで現代的な商品が製作されています。
The Akita-nuri lacquerware piece shown in the accompanying photograph was created in Akita approximately 100 years ago (Showa era) by a lacquer artisan named Kano Tamitaro, whose work can be seen at the Akita Red Brick Folk Museum. He combined modern design elements with traditional lacquerware techniques to create colorful products.
Production of Akita lacquerware ceased shortly after the war, but today, colorful lacquer products continue to be made in Akita. These modern products make use of the luster and color of the lacquer.
