凧

凧あげは日本だけでなく世界的に行われている遊びです。現在では、国際大会も行われているスポーツの一つですが、日本での「凧」の記録は、平安時代(794年〜)にまで遡り、 そのころまでに中国から伝来していたと思われます。江戸時代には庶民の間で大流行し、地方によって様々な季節に、その地方独特の凧が作られるようになりました。特に季節の変わり目をお祝いしたり、男児の出生祝いなどの縁起物として、また厄除けとしても揚げられ、その一部は現在まで残っています。
Kite flying is a pastime enjoyed not only in Japan but around the world. Currently, it is a sport with international competitions, but records of kites in Japan date back to the Heian period (from 794), when they are thought to have been introduced from China. In the Edo period, kites became all the rage among common people, and kites unique to each region began to be made for each season. Kites were particularly flown to celebrate the change of seasons, as auspicious items to celebrate the birth of boys, and to ward off evil, and some of these kites remain to this day.
