Koito fireworks manufactured in Kimitsu City are designated as a traditional craft by Chiba Prefecture. Originally, the launching of handmade fireworks was popular in the Koito region. Around 1830, the Fukuyama family, fireworks makers, invented a technique called "katamono.” This secret technique of drawing letters and shapes in the night sky has been passed down through the generations, and today they continue to create beautiful fireworks, making full use of a variety of computer-based programs.
