Hatta Yaki

Hatta Yaki is a traditional ceramic ware with 17th-century roots from Minakuchi, Shiga Prefecture. It is highly valued for its practical characteristics: a well-fired, dense, lightweight body, and its notable ability to prevent scent transfer, making it exceptionally useful for daily use. As a testament to its quality, Hatta Yaki is the official purveyor of ritual sake cups to the Imperial Household Agency. Its aesthetic often emphasizes the inherent beauty of its natural clay, showcasing subtle transformations from the firing process. Unglazed or with minimal natural glazes, it embodies rustic elegance.
