Fujioka Kimenn Kawara refers to demon-faced ornamental roof tiles made in Fujioka City, Gunma Prefecture (northern Kantō region). These tiles are a distinctive local variation of onigawara, characterized by expressive demon faces with strong Edo-period influence and artistic craftsmanship that has been preserved for centuries. Using the durable and weather-resistant locally sourced clay, and smoke-fired to produce the signature ibushi-gin (smoky silver-gray) finish, they are recognized as a traditional craft of Gunma Prefecture. Today, they are still used in temple restorations, cultural heritage projects, and as interior décor pieces.
