鳩笛

Hato Bue

鳩の形をした土焼きなどの笛。 鳩の鳴き声に似た音を出すので鳩笛と名付けられています。青森の郷土玩具として有名ですが、全国各地で作られています。

Hato Bue (pigeon/dove flute) is a beloved traditional Japanese ceramic whistle, typically shaped like a stylized pigeon or dove. Primarily a children's toy, it produces a gentle, bird-like sound. Crafted from earthenware, often unglazed or simply glazed, these whistles feature vibrant, hand-painted designs in bold, uncomplicated colors, reflecting a unique, rustic folk art aesthetic. The pigeon/dove motif symbolizes peace, good fortune, and happiness in Japan. Often found at temple fairs and tourist spots, Hato Bue remains a timeless symbol of joy and cultural heritage.
