Located in Nishio City, Aichi Prefecture, the Kakujō Kiln draws its name from the area's historic Nishio Castle, also known as "Kakujō" or "Crane Castle." This kiln primarily produces natural-glazed ceramics, crafted from local clay and fired in a traditional anagama (cave) kiln. The pottery’s unique natural glaze is a direct result of the interaction between ash and flame with the clay during the firing process. As these pieces are used and handled over time, their aesthetic deepens, gradually acquiring a richer, more profound character.
