お化けの金太
Obake no Kinta
黒い鳥帽子に赤い顔、どんぐり目。ヒモを引くと、目玉がひっくり返って舌を出し、あかんベェをするというユーモラスな動きを見せてくれる、熊本県の伝統的な郷土玩具。江戸時代から作られており、仕掛けとなる竹バネ作りが出来上がりを左右するといわれています。加藤清正が熊本城を築いた頃に、顔立ちが面白く、人を笑わせることが上手な金太という人気者の足軽がいました。「おどけの金太」と呼ばれ、この金太の伝説をもとに、嘉永年間(1848〜1853)に人形師の西陣屋彦七がからくり人形を作り出したのが原型といわれています。のちに「おばけの金太」や別名「目くり出し人形」とも呼ばれるようになりました。
