鳥取県中部、倉吉市のはこた人形は、天明年間(1778~81)から受け継がれてきた郷土玩具です。かつて、備後の国から行商に来た備後屋治兵衛が倉吉の素朴でつつましやかな娘に惹かれ、これを人形にしたといわれています。子供が怪我や病気をせず無事に育ってほしいという願いが込められたお守りです。
