Mochitsuki Usagi
米食いねずみと同じ頃に作られ、特に昭和初期までお祭りやお正月の縁起物として売られていました。
台の下の糸を引くと兎がきねを振り上げてもちをつきだす、素朴で面白い動きは、玩具の愛好家のあいだでも人気があり、贈物としても喜ばれています。台の下の糸を引くと兎がきねを振り上げて餅をつきだす、その格好の素朴さ、面白さ、その動きの巧妙さは、手にとる人をいつの間にかおとぎの世界に誘い入れ、玩具の愛好家や、趣味蒐集家の大いに称賛する所であり贈物としても喜ばれるものです。
「もちつき兎」「米食いねずみ」共に動物への愛情をも秘めた加賀木製玩具の双璧として、広く愛玩されているものです。
Mochitsuki Usagi (もちつき兎) is a motif depicting a rabbit pounding mochi (rice cakes), based on the popular folk belief that a rabbit lives on the moon and makes mochi.
