チャグチャグ馬コ
Chaguchagu Umakko
“チャグチャグ”と鳴り響く鈴の音とともに、南部盛岡の街なかを馬コが練り歩きます。「チャグチャグ馬コ」とは、華やかな装束を着飾った農用馬が、滝沢市の鬼越蒼前神社から盛岡市の盛岡八幡宮までの約14kmの道のりを行進する岩手県の伝統行事です。
馬のあでやかな飾り付けとたくさんの鈴が特徴で、歩くたびにチャグチャグと鳴る鈴の音が名称の由来といわれています。 馬の飾りは、大名行列に使われた「小荷駄装束」に端を発するといわれ、色とりどりの装束に身を包んだ馬が行進する様子は圧巻です。 また、そのように馬を飾り付けるのは愛馬精神のあらわれともいえるでしょう。
チャグチャグ馬コ (Chaguchagu Umakko) refers to elaborately decorated wooden or papier-mâché horses crafted to celebrate the traditional Chagu Chagu Umakko festival in Japan. The process involves hand-carving or molding the horse figures, then adorning them with colorful patterns, ornaments, and bells. These figures symbolize gratitude for horses' contributions to farming and represent prosperity and good fortune.
