Obata Ningyo

滋賀県東近江市五個荘小幡町で作られている伝統的な土人形。
小幡人形の歴史は古く、細居家の伝えでは享保年間（1716～36）に初代安兵衛が危険をともなう飛脚業から、安全で家内で出来る仕事への思案の末、京の伏見人形の製法を習い、小幡の地で土産物として作り初めたのが最初としています。小幡人形は美しい色彩が特徴で、年賀切手や年賀はがきの絵柄にも採用されました。種類は、節句人形・祭り神輿・信仰縁起・教訓・十二支等500種余りあり、大きさも90センチ～3センチの小さな物に至るまで様々です。

Obata Ningyo are dolls from Shiga Prefecture, known for their connection to samurai culture. Originating in the Edo period, these dolls often depict warriors and historical figures, featuring realistic expressions and elaborate costumes. Traditionally used in festivals like Tango no Sekku (Boys' Day), Obata Ningyo symbolize strength and bravery, and continue to be crafted with meticulous detail by skilled artisans.
