獅子頭 (Shishi Gashira) is a lion’s head mask used in traditional Japanese lion dances. Hand-carved from wood and brightly painted, it symbolizes protection and is believed to ward off evil spirits. It is used not only during New Year’s and festivals, but also in stage performances and traditional dances by geisha.
