Funado Hariko (船渡張子) is a traditional papier-mâché craft from the Funado area of Fukushima Prefecture. Papier-mâché figures made in Funado were mainly sold at Kameido Tenjin Shrine in Tokyo, so they are also known as ‘Kameido Hariko’ (Kameido papier-mâché). There are nodding-head figures and hanging papier-mâché items, known for their humorous expressions and charming, playful shapes.”
