Ishougi Ningyo


人形の意匠を考え、人形頭師に桐塑(とうそ)製の頭を依頼し、それにあった生地を選び、裁断し、縫った布地の衣裳を着せ付け、手足を振り付ける技術の人形です。 100を越える工程を丹念に仕上げて、雛人形、五月人形などがあります。
Ishougi Ningyo are dolls known for their elaborate, high-quality clothing. Originating in the Edo period, these dolls feature detailed garments made from fine fabrics, reflecting historical Japanese fashion. They are used in festivals and ceremonies, such as Hinamatsuri (Doll Festival or Girls' Day) and Tango no Sekku. Renowned for their craftsmanship and collectibility, Ishougi Ningyo continue to be valued for their artistic and cultural significance.
