Tai Bonbori

(Tai Bonbori) refers to a traditional paper lantern shaped like a sea bream (鯛, tai), a fish that symbolizes good fortune and celebration in Japanese culture. Made by stretching washi paper over bamboo frames with a light inside, children would pull them along and play with them on summer nights. They are often used during festivals or special occasions, particularly to bring good luck and prosperity. The vibrant colors and intricate details of the tai make these lanterns both decorative and culturally significant.
