Gara-Bou・Cotton

ガラ紡・綿は、明治時代（1868-1912年）に長野の僧侶、臥雲辰致（がうん　たっち）によって発明された紡績機の一種で、西洋式織機とは異なり、「和紡績機」「和紡」とも言われます。手紡ぎ機の原理を動力化し、綿から糸をより速く効率的に紡ぐことができ、手紡ぎしかなかった時代に、繊維生産に革新をもたらしました。ガラガラという音を立てることから「ガラ紡」と呼ばれるようになりました。

Gara-Bou, a type of spinning machine, was invented in Nagano, Japan, during the Meiji Period (1868-1912). The machine uses a concept similar to that of a hand-spinning machine; however, it includes motorized parts, creating the ability to spin thread from cotton much faster and more efficiently. This machine revolutionized textile production at a time when hand-spinning was the only method available.
