Joshu Tomioka Tetsumugimawatakinuori

Tomioka Silk is a "purely domestic" silk produced in Tomioka, home to the historic Tomioka Silk Mill, a World Heritage Site that led Japan’s silk industry from 1872. Blessed with ideal natural conditions—abundant sunshine, dry winds, and rich mulberry fields—Tomioka nurtures healthy silkworms, respectfully raised by local farmers. The silk is made from 100% locally grown cocoons, spun into raw silk without heat-drying to preserve its natural softness and luster. Known as a "living thread," Tomioka Silk becomes increasingly supple and radiant with use, reflecting the care and passion of its makers.
