Tango Zuridashi Bou is an ancient spinning technique originating from the Tango region in Northern Kyoto prefecture. This technique requires one to use their fingertips to carefully extract silk from a silkworm cocoon, a process that takes immense practice and care. The cocoons themselves are dyed using plants, such as cherry blossoms or camellia petals, before being hand-spun into thread. The final product reveals beautifully colored and meticulously crafted thread that can be used for kimono and obi.
