Aizu cotton is a strong, thick, durable cotton fashioning a bright, vivid, vertical stripe pattern; Aizu momen fabric has been made in the Aizu region of Fukushima Prefecture for about 400 years. The material itself is extremely versatile, with heat retention and moisture absorption properties, making it perfect for the harsh climate of the Aizu basin. Aizu Momen has been weaved on an automatic loom that has been used since the early Showa period and remains a well-favorite and comfortable fabric.
