Kiryu Zakurifu is a traditional silk fabric made by hand-spinning reeled threads from cocoons using a Joshu reeling machine, a method preserved since the Edo period. Woven on hand looms, the fabric retains the natural texture of raw silk, including the figure-eight shape formed by silkworms. A special processing technique creates a distinctive curl known as the silk wave, giving the fabric warmth, softness, and a gentle luster. Its airy, layered texture offers a uniquely comforting feel.
