桐生蓑虫工芸
Kiryu Minomushi Kougei
蓑虫工芸はみの虫（オオミノガ）の繭”みの”を利用し、織物などの表面に貼り付け加工を施すものです。蓑虫の蓑を加工する技術は、足利市在住の蓑輪宗一郎氏が考案したもので、桐生蓑虫工芸は、氏に師事していた森保雄が技術を習得・独立したのち、独自の考案を加え発展させたものです。みの虫の蓑は、蚕（かいこ）の繭とちがい、糸を吐くときに方向性がなく、”たて”、”よこ”いずれにカットしても”ほつれ”がなく、柔軟性に富み織物によく馴染みます。また、加工途中に樹脂加工を 行って居りますので、毛羽立つ事もなく安心です。桐生蓑虫工芸は群馬県ふるさと伝統工芸品に指定されています。
Kiryu Minomushi Crafts originated in Gunma Prefecture when Mori, a textile industry professional, learned the art of bagworm processing from founder Soichiro Minowa of Ashikaga and introduced it to Kiryu. These unique crafts make use of the natural color and texture of bagworm cocoons, transforming them into refined artisanal items. The production process includes washing, bleaching, resin treatment, cutting, pasting, and overlock stitching, resulting in distinctive and high-quality creations.
