Ryukyu Kasuri is a fabric woven in Okinawa Prefecture. It mainly uses silk threads and incorporates dyes derived from plants, as well as chemical dyes. The characteristic of Ryukyu Kasuri is its patterns that incorporate a variety of Okinawa's natural features and flora and fauna, amounting to about 600 types. The fabric is primarily woven with these patterns in mind, and woven items known as 'Kabejōfu,' used during the summer, are also produced.
