益子草木染
Mashiko Plant Dyeing


益子草木染 (ましこくさきぞめ)は、寛政年間に栃木県益子町で製造されるようになった染物です。草や木の皮から抽出した天然の色素を染料とし布を染める草木染で染められています。藍、紅、茜等で染められるため、素朴で繊細な美しさと深い味わいがあります。
Mashiko kusakizome is a plant dye that began to be manufactured in Mashiko Town, Tochigi Prefecture during the Kansei era. The cotton fabric is dyed using natural pigments extracted from plants and barks. As it is dyed with colors of indigo, crimson, madder, and etc., it has a simple and delicate beauty of the natural dyes.
