Bashou Fu is a textile originating from Ogimi, a small coastal village in the Northern part of Okinawa’s main island. Originating in the 13th century, this textile is made out of Banana fibers and requires over 20 steps to make, from making the thread to weaving the cloth. Basho Fu cloth is entirely hand-made, and no chemicals are used at any stage of the process.
