Sakiori is a traditional weaving technique that repurposes old cloth by tearing it into strips for the weft and weaving it with a cotton warp. Known for its rustic charm and irregular color patterns, it reflects the resourcefulness and warmth of past generations. Though it declined with industrialization, it was revived in Towa Town by Mr. Odashima, who learned the craft from an elder. Today, visitors can experience Sakiori weaving at the Sakiori Tradition Museum in Hanamaki City, where hands-on workshops are offered by reservation.
