Awashijira Brocade

阿波しじら織は、徳島県徳島市が産地の織物です。18世紀の末に阿波地方で盛んに織られていた「たたえ織」という木綿縞を改良してできたと言われています。その特徴は、シボという独特の凹凸で、これによって汗をかいても肌に張り付かず、肌触りが良いことです。

Awashijira ori is a fabric originating in Tokushima prefecture. Uneven texture called Shibo is created by adjusting the tightness of weaving. This creates a space between the skin when worn, giving a light texture even on hot summer day.
