Ainu Tebori Bachi
アイヌは木を「彫る」のではなく、「彫らせてもらう」という考え方をします。 それは木に対する敬意の現れ。 木はアイヌ語で「シリコロカムイ」。 意味は「大地を持つ神」です。木彫りの文化はアイヌ暮らしと密接に関わり、時代とともに形を変えながら、現代までアイヌ工芸として脈々と受け継がれています。
Woodcarving culture is integral to Ainu life, and this craft has been passed down to the present day. Notably, the Ainu do not "carve" wood but rather "have someone allow them to carve." This expression conveys their respect for wood. In the Ainu language, wood is called "Sirikoro Kamuy," which means "God who holds the earth."
