A traditional craft of Kagawa Prefecture, Yusoku tatami has been used in mansions and temples since the Heian period and was brought from Kyoto to Sanuki for use in temples and tea ceremony rooms. It is made according to formal traditions, rooted in ancient rituals and etiquette, and unlike ordinary tatami, it conveys a high-class or very special space.
