大塔坪杓子・栗木細工
Otoutsuboshakushi Kurikisaiku
奈良県五條市の大塔（おおとう）町惣谷（そうたに）で製造されています。原木（栗、ブナ）を輪切り・コマ割りし、杓子形に荒仕上げした壺の部分の内側を彫り、柄の部分を削って作られています。 耐久性に富み、使い込むと木地色の輝きが増してきます。
These carved wooden pieces were made in Sotani, Ooto Town, Gojo City, Nara Prefecture. Craftsmen carve and finish raw wood (usually chestnut or beech) into bowls and ladles that are characterized by their durability as well as their lovely texture and color, which shines more with continued use.
