大木が注文に合わせて製材所で細切りにされていくことに対し疑問を抱いたのがきっかけで，そこで300年以上もの年月を生きた大木を長く使い続けられるようなものにしたいという思いや、大木の姿をそのまま残して後世に伝えたいという思いから、岩泉純木家具は岩手県岩泉町で創業しました。『300年生きてきた木は300年使える家具に』を経営指針に「この木は何に使われたら喜んでくれるのだろう」「この人はどういうモノを望んでいるのだろう」と、常に『木』の個性と『使い手』の意向を尊重して製作する工芸家具です。県産の天然広葉樹の丸太を製材、乾燥、管、製作、漆塗り、荷造り、納品まで一貫して自社で行うことにより、品質が保たれています。
Iwaizumi Junmoku Furniture was founded in Iwaizumi-cho, Iwate Prefecture, out of local craftsmen’s desire to make unique and long-lasting furniture that preserves the appearance of the large trees from which they are made. Put simply, the company's goal is to turn 300-year-old trees into furniture that can be used for 300 years. The result is furniture that reflects both the individuality of the wood and the customers’ wishes.
Excellence is maintained over time by using high-quality local hardwood, preserving well-honed craft traditions, and keeping all key processes in-house, from sawing and drying the wood to manufacturing, lacquering, and packing. This commitment results in beautiful, unique furniture pieces that are last for generations.
