Shogawa woodworking dates back to 1866 when Echigoya Seiji opened a lathe-turned woodworking workshop in the town, which has the largest concentration of woodworking crafts in the Hokuriku region. It takes about a year to purchase the logs, dry them, hand-turn the pieces, and finish them. Some products take even longer. The distinctive features of Shogawa woodwork are their delicate yet solid texture and the beauty of the natural wood grain. No two products are alike.
