Kiso zaimoku Kougeihin

This term refers to small wooden crafts made from five Kiso woods: cypress, sawara, asunaro, nezuko, and kouyamaki. Kiso wood crafts (as well as Narai bentwood products) are believed to have originated from the production of cypress wood bases for lacquerware approximately 600 years ago. Since the Edo period, craftsmen have made a wide variety of products, including buckets and barrels made from sawara, bathtubs made from cypress and kouyamaki, measuring cups, small boxes, and cutting boards made from cypress and asunaro, and household items such as nezuko geta sandals.
