Born in Aizuwakamatsu, Fukushima Prefecture in 1967. After graduating from the Faculty of Law, Meiji Gakuin University, he worked in the planning department at what is now SKY Perfect JSAT Corporation, a satellite communications and broadcasting company, and was involved in developing applications for next-generation communications satellites at what is now the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA). In 2003, he joined his family business, Seki Bikodo Co., Ltd. In 2005, he launched Aizu Lacquerware BITOWA and began operating Bikodo, a lifestyle store selling domestic and international design products and handicrafts. In 2007, he became Representative Director and President as the third generation of Seki Bikodo. Since then, he has launched new lacquer brands such as NODATE and urushiol, and has focused on passing on the baton of lacquer to the next generation, by providing lacquerware to the architectural field as a functional material. Recently, he has also expanded his activities to include producing clothing, equipment, and other items that utilize local materials, techniques, and the manufacturing community. Awards
