Tokyo
Project
Overview: "Developing new markets through new technological development. Innovative collaboration between young talents that transcends the boundaries of crafts. Creating a space that visualizes the possibilities of braiding."
Biography
Born in 1993, Fukuda began his apprenticeship at the age of 14 under his father, contemporary master craftsman Takashi Fukuda, at Nihonbashi Ryukobo. Ryukobo was founded in 1889 and has been the Fukuda family business, passing down braiding techniques for generations. Fukuda sees braiding as a bridge that connects people and themselves, and seeks out new forms of expression while preserving tradition.
