Fashion designer Shogo Akashi has launched "OCACI," an innovative apparel brand using kimono fabrics that showcase the traditional craftsmanship and warmth of traditional Japanese textiles, such as Kurume Kasuri. At a time when Japan's domestic clothing production is at an all-time low and 98% is produced overseas, Akashi's visionary approach will not only create jobs and revitalize the region, but also preserve centuries-old weaving techniques and processes across Japan.
