Vision

Designers: Hiroyuki Horihata, Makiko Sekiguchi

Established in 2005 with the concept of "creating new clothing that embodies Japanese aesthetics."

The following year, she participated in Tokyo Collection Week, showcasing Japanese history, aesthetics, and traditional techniques in a modern way.

They presented works that had been elevated to a new level. As one of the brands symbolizing contemporary Japan, they received attention from the press and overseas media.

It has received high praise from various sources. It is also featured in Spiral Garden in Omotesando, the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa, and Kumamoto.

She has also held exhibitions at contemporary art museums and other venues. She received the 27th Mainichi Fashion Grand Prix Newcomer Award and the Shiseido Award.

Received an encouragement award.

The name matohu (written as "まとふ" but pronounced "まとう") has two meanings.

"Matou" comes from the Japanese word "matou," which refers to clothing that is lightly wrapped around the body, enveloping it.

Another approach is to "wait." Instead of consuming and discarding, wait for your own aesthetic sense to mature.

Atelier Shimura

The artistic spirit of textile artists Fukumi Shimura and Yoko Shimura is carried on, with Fukumi Shimura's grandson, Shoji Shimura, at the center.

Established in 2016 as a textile brand. Brand concept: "Into nature and art."

Under this guidance, in a workshop in Sagano, Kyoto, surrounded by beautiful nature, she engages in plant dyeing and hand weaving using seasonal natural dyes.

We create kimonos, obi sashes, and accessories. We also conduct workshops and learning sessions.

We actively create opportunities for everyone to learn about and reflect on the rich culture and ideas centered on dyeing, weaving, and crafts.
